Player Profile – Jerry Kelly

A native of Madison, Wis., Jerry Kelly graduated from the University of Hartford in 1989 and turned pro that year, but didn't make it onto the PGA TOUR until 1996. This followed a successful 1995 season on the Nationwide Tour, when he won two tournaments.

His career year to date is 2002, when he finished fourth on the PGA TOUR money list and won the PGA TOUR's Sony Open in Hawaii and Advil Western Open. Kelly continues to play well, with ten top 10 finishes in 2003, eight in 2004 and seven in 2007, two of which came at major championships -- the Masters and the U.S. Open.

Kelly's nickname on TOUR is "The Cylinder," because he makes to many clutch putts.

Kelly's support of Naval Special Warfare Foundation:

Kelly began showing his support for the U. S. Navy SEALs and the Naval Special Warfare Foundation in 2006 when he spent his birthday, which fell on Thanksgiving Day, in Iraq at one of Saddam Hussein's former palaces in Baghdad. He spent eight days in Iraq visiting 14 bases and entertaining the troops and visiting the wounded.

Kelly has been a dedicated advocate of the Naval Special Warfare Foundation, making it his mission to personally show his support to the troops and also to champion the Naval Special Warfare Foundation's mission to provide educational support through scholarships and tuition assistance; to promote health and welfare programs including tragedy assistance programs for families of fallen Navy SEALs; and to maintain the Special Warfare community's strong history through monuments and publications designed to preserve and recognize their rich heritage.
